The Parents Association, Co-Chaired by Jennifer Hirsch Luloff and Natalia Torres, supports Diller-Quaile’s mission and music programs by fostering a sense of community among families and facilitating communications between parents, caregivers, and the School. The organization also provides an important base of volunteers who share their talents and resources with Diller-Quaile. All parents of enrolled children are considered members of the Parents Association. Class Representative – Early Childhood Classes ONLY
This full-year leadership role serves as a liaison between the Parents Association and fellow class families. Class Representatives help foster a sense of community within the School by keeping classmates informed of School events–either by phone, email, or in person–and encouraging parents to participate in School functions. The Class Rep also assists with fundraising efforts, including the class picture for the Gala Journal. There may be one or two representatives per class.

Team Leader – Instrumental and Vocal Parents ONLY
This full-year leadership role serves as a liaison between the Parents Association and the Instrumental and Vocal families. Team Leaders help foster a sense of community within the departments by keeping families informed of Instrumental and Vocal concerts and events–either by phone, email, or in person–and encouraging families to participate in School functions.

Annual Spring Gala

Diller-Quaile’s annual fundraising event supports in-school, outreach, and scholarship programs. Planning for the Gala begins in Fall 2017 with the event scheduled to take place on April 19, 2018.

Spring Gala volunteers are needed for the following:

  • Auction Committee
  • Journal Committee
  • Decorations/Gift Bags Committee
  • Individual Underwriting (guest artist, printing, journal sponsorship, etc.)
  • Celebrity/Host Procurement
  • Corporate Sponsorship/Advertising
  • Gifts-in-kind (wine, flowers, invitations, gift bag items, etc.)
  • Auction donations

Host / Welcoming Committee

Diller-Quaile strives to provide a welcoming community for families through numerous events, concerts, and parties. These adult gatherings take place at School and off-site. Special Events

Fall Party-in-the-Park (October 12, 2017)
Volunteers are needed to help plan this afternoon family gathering featuring arts & crafts, a sing-along, and light refreshments in Central Park (free-of-charge).

Alumni Events (Fall & Winter 2017/2018)
Calling all Alumni! Come have fun and meet fellow alumni by assisting with early evening receptions to bring together parents who attended Diller-Quaile as children, as well as recent graduates.

Grandparents and Special Friends Week (Week following Thanksgiving 2017)
This is the dedicated week at Diller-Quaile in which grandparents and special friends are invited to the School to enjoy classes. Volunteers are needed to help with invitations, welcoming visitors, and assisting with the hospitality room.

Holiday Sings (December 15, 2017)
The two Holiday Sings are very popular, festive sing-alongs in the Diller-Quaile Performance Space for enrolled families and teachers. Volunteers are needed to help with decorations, gift bag items, and check-in.

Spring Party-In-The-Park (May 23, 2018)
Volunteers are needed to help plan an early evening gathering of children, parents, and caregivers featuring arts & crafts tables, a sing-along, and light refreshments in Central Park (free-of-charge).

Catering Committee

This committee donates baked goods (no nuts please), fruit, and beverages for events throughout the year. Events include Early Childhood Parties; Instrumental and Vocal Playing Parties and Concerts; the Holiday Sings; Master Classes; and Faculty Concerts.

Shopping Events

Diller-Quaile partners with retail establishments each year to raise funds. If you have connections to a store that may be interested in hosting a shopping event, please contact Trevor Tamashiro, Director of Development, at 212-369-1484, ext. 29 or trevor@diller-quaile.org.

Administrative / Office

The Diller-Quaile School of Music is a non-profit 501(c)(3) community music school that relies on voluntary contributions each year to help bridge the gap between tuition revenues and expenses.

Administrative / Office volunteer opportunities include:

  • Donating design, photography, art supplies, printing, etc.
  • Providing Foundation/Corporate Contribution contacts
  • Helping with mailings or assisting with phone outreach for special initiatives
  • Offering archiving expertise with historic School photos, publications, and music
