GIVING VOICE TO STORIES (2-2.11 years) Engaging and visually stimulating storybooks are explored through song, movement, and play. Percussion instruments, stuffed animals, puppets, and props are used to enhance the dramatizations. Just as children learn their ABCs through song, literacy studies show that music helps build vocabulary and facilitates communication skills. The oral tradition of storytelling also plays an important role in the classroom community. Children are encouraged to find their own voice as they share stories with their teachers, family, and friends. In addition to a head teacher, every class features a pianist who supports the learning process and improvises accompaniments in a variety of musical styles.
