STORY DRAMATIZATION WITH ORFF INSTRUMENTS (3&4 years)
Children's stories and folk tales from around the world are brought to life through singing, movement, and improvisation. Orff instruments (tone bar instruments) such as xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels are used. As the year progresses, children learn to accompany their dramatizations with a combination of learned melodies and improvisations. Non-pitched percussion instruments (rhythm sticks, maracas, drums, cymbals, etc.) and props enhance the experience. In addition to a head teacher, every class features a pianist who improvises accompaniments in a variety of musical styles.
