STORY DRAMATIZATION WITH ORFF INSTRUMENTS (3 & 4 years)
In these classes, children have the creative and joyful opportunity to bring stories to life. Favorites of children's literature and folk tales from around the world are explored through singing, movement, and improvisation. One special feature of these classes is the use of Orff instruments (tone bar instruments) such as xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels. As the year progresses, children accompany their dramatizations with a combination of simple, learned melodies and improvisations. Percussion instruments from around the world and a variety of props enhance the dramatizations. In addition to a head teacher, every class features a pianist who improvises accompaniments in a variety of musical styles.
