ART: THE FOUR SEASONS (3-5 years)
Great artists have traditionally drawn inspiration from the colors and moods of nature. In this course, teachers introduce famous paintings, drawings, and photographs showing seasonal images such as a summer rain on the beach, an autumn day in the park, or a wintry night in the city. Musical experiences support the artistic explorations. Children develop a greater awareness of their ever-changing surroundings and are given the opportunity to express their responses artistically. Specially selected palates of color that relate to each subject and season are offered as children explore drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, construction, papier-mache, and woodworking. A variety of tools including brushes, sponges, charcoal, paints, and oil pastels are used.
