FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs) ABOUT INSTRUMENTAL AND VOCAL ADMISSIONS

Q: As a returning family, do we need to complete the application form each year?

A: Yes, all families must complete an application form for each student each year.

Q: As a new family, can we submit our application form before the spring Information Sessions?

A: Yes, we will accept new applications before the Information Sessions. However, all interviews for new students take place after attendance at the required Information Session.

Q: Can I apply for my child after classes have begun?

A: Yes. Though students generally enroll for a 30-week academic year beginning in mid-September, the admissions process continues as long as the School is able to make an appropriate placement for your child.

Q: What if I am unsure which instrument my child should study?

A: Department administrators will address this question at the Information Session to help families determine how to move forward. Students who are undecided may be able to interview for more than one instrument.

Q: I am interested in enrolling my child at Diller-Quaile next year, but I am undecided about which weekly class (Early Childhood or Instrumental) to choose or instrument to study.

A: We recommend that you submit your application early even if you are undecided, indicating your areas of interest on the form. School administrators will work with you to determine the appropriate program for your child.

Q:  What if my child's availability changes once I have submitted the form?

A: Please contact the Instrumental and Vocal Admissions and Concerts Coordinator at 212-369-1484 ext. 26, with any new information.

Q: Is the musicianship class required?

A: All students who enroll in individual instrument or vocal lessons are required to take musicianship classes.
